Drawing Machines (Ink Circles, Solar Circles) | 2020

This series of autonomous drawings captures the invisible forces of nature by visualizing the paths of wind and sunlight. Through natural processes, the artist records the passage of time, documenting key elements such as temperature, UV exposure, wind speed, direction, and time itself.

Ink Circles: Using frozen spheres of water and ink on Japanese Washi paper, the artist creates marks that subtly connect the work to both the environment where the series was made and the tradition of Asian calligraphy.

Sun Circles: In a complementary work, sunlight powers a drawing machine. Transforming light into lines of lead, the solar panel activates the motor, which rotates the pencil across the paper, highlighting the dynamics between natural forces and the act of mark-making.
